Darold David Kamrath was born on December 21, 1937 at the Myron and Esther (Weseloh) Kamrath farm home in Brookfield Township between the villages of Hector and Cosmos, Minnesota. Baptised as an infant Darold was given the middle name David after his Baptismal sponsor and grandfather David Weseloh. Confirmation of Darold's faith in God was at age 13 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hector. Darold grew up on the Kamrath farm located two miles east of Hector. As a farm boy he helped his father and mother caring for the cattle, hogs, chickens and ducks and also driving the Allis-Chalmers tractors in the alfalfa, wheat, corn and soybean fields. Darold was one of the fastest runners in grade school, and graduated as Salutatorian of his 1955 Class at Hector High School. He considered becoming a Lutheran minister and pursued this for a number of semesters at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa and at Augsburg College in Minneapolis. During 1960 and 1961, Darold served in the U.S.Army including deployment to the Republic of Korea. Darold returned to settle into a small hobby farm near Lake Lillian where he raised and sold sheep. With his ""green-thumb"", his garden always thrived. Darold enjoyed playing the piano and small home organ. As a bachelor Darold loved to travel via car around Minnesota, and then in 1986 toured the Holy Lands of Palestine and Israel. Darold's health was fragile in many ways - border-line diabetes and a progressive Parkinson Disease took its toll. However, Darold's spirit remained uncomplaining, and he could smile at life. Darold was blessed in living his last ten years in the excellent surroundings of Lincoln Apartments. In addition he benefited from the fine services of the Meeker County Veterans Service Office including many trips via van to the St. Cloud Veterans Affairs Center where he participated in fishing trips and played bingo. Even in a larger way, Darold's spirit was lifted by his unending trust in God. Symbolically, Darold carried a small Bible in his pocket everyday, and Darold had inscribed on his cemetery headstone, ""My God And I Go Unendingly"". Darold died suddenly of a heart attack at Lincoln Apartments in Litchfield on January 31st; God had given him 73 years on this earth. His burial will be at the Kamrath plot in Peace Lutheran Cemetery in Cosmos, Minnesota from which his earthly remains will await the great Resurrection.
