Daniel Peek

Daniel T. Peek, age 57, of Litchfield, died on Sunday, February 14, 2010 at his home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 19, 2010, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Litchfield, MN with Pastor Paul Lindhorst and Pastor Timothy Redfield officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home, Litchfield, MN and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Acoma Township, McLeod County. Daniel Thomas Peek, the son of Arthur and Joyce (Vogel) Peek, was born on June 28, 1952 in Mankato, MN. He was baptized on July 13, 1952 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in North Mankato, MN and confirmed in Butterfield, MN. He received his education in Butterfield, MN, graduating in 1970 and attended Willmar Jr. College graduating in 1972. He was united in marriage to JuLeen Rick on November 25, 1972 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Litchfield, MN. Together they lived in Minneapolis, Richfield, Faribault, Hutchinson and Litchfield, MN. Daniel worked at First District Association from 1978 until the present time. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Dan enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and woodworking. He also liked planting trees. His passion was for his family, and then working with youth. Bible camps in the summer, youth groups, rallies, and whatever he could do. He loved being a grandpa. He was just a big kid himself, and loved to play and joke with everyone. He has gone to Heaven to be with the Lord, but continues through everyone he has touched, teaching that true happiness comes from Jesus. Jesus died for our sins and arose so that we will live forever as the Bible says. Daniel is survived by his wife JuLeen; children, Heather (and Michael) Smith of Appleton, WI, Michael (and Kara) Peek of Tucson, AZ, Amanda (and Brett) Fuhrmann of Houston, TX; 4 grandchildren, Kaleb Peek, Chloe and Benjamin Fuhrmann, and Ellie Smith; mother Joyce Peek; sister Kathleen (and Gary) Leopold of Warrenton, VA; mother and father in law June and Walt Wittenberg of Litchfield, MN; brother and sister in laws Dennis (and Lynn) Rick of Rockville, MN, Laura (and Ric) Gibson of South St. Paul, MN, Randy (and Becky) Rick of Eagan, MN, Larry (and Jodie) Rick of Litchfield, MN, David (and Terri) Rick of Litchfield, MN, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Arthur Peek, father in law Lloyd Rick and grandparents Burt and Clara Peek and Martin and Gertrude Lemke and grandfather John Vogel. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to WELS Youth Christian Education, Camp Croix and Litchfield Area Hospice.
