Curtis D. Piepenburg, age 68, died on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia, Minnesota. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 8, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Christ The King Church in Hutchison. Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Thursday, January 7th at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield and will continue one hour prior to the services at the church. Curtis Dale Piepenburg the son of Oliver and Mildred (Smith) Piepenburg was born on October 4, 1947 in Hutchinson, Minnesota. He grew up in the Greenleaf area and graduated from Litchfield High School in 1965. After high school he joined the Minnesota National Guard. Curtis farmed and was very active in the farm community. He served in various positions including as a Farm Advocate for the State of Minnesota. On October 19, 1968, he was united in marriage to Mona Johnson at the United Methodist Church in Litchfield. Curtis served as the county appraiser for Brookings county in South Dakota, assessor for Pipestone and Becker counties and as Washington county commercial appraiser. He was a member of the Lakes County Woodcarvers, the Detroit Lake Lions, a 4-H leader and band booster. He also served on the Minnesota Dairy Promotional Council and the Meeker County and State of Minnesota ADA boards. Curtis was a member of the Bayport American Legion and Christ the King Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. He enjoyed woodcarving, woodworking, fishing, camping, sports activities and working with people.
He is survived by his wife Mona of Hutchinson; daughters, Kimberley (and Anthony) Hausladen of Lester Prairie, Jennifer (and Chad) Lottman of Ellsworth, WI; grandchildren, Hunter Piepenburg, Paige Hausladen, Logan Lottman, Nathaniel Hausladen; sisters, Sharon Piepenburg of Litchfield, Pamela Piepenburg of Litchfield; mother-in-law Bonnie Johnson of Hutchinson; brothers-in-law Craig Johnson of Elkhart, IN and Clark (and Beth) Johnson of Hawick; sister-in-law Pamela (and Greg) Piehl of Hector, many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his best friend David Hoover of Howard Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law David Johnson.Previous Events
