Craig L. Smith

Craig L. Smith, age 61 of Kimball, MN died on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at the Ecumen Emmanuel Home in Litchfield, MN. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 20, 2014 at the Litchfield United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Sunday at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield and one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be held in the Lake Ripley Cemetery, Litchfield, MN. Craig Lewis Smith, the son of Lewis and Florence (Krueger) Smith was born on November 6, 1952 in Hutchinson, MN. He graduated from Litchfield High School in 1970 and continued his education at the Alexandria Technical College. He was united in marriage to Sue Barrick on February 28, 1981. Craig worked in construction as a cement finisher and also helped friends with farm work. He was a member of the Litchfield United Methodist Church, the Darwin Lions Club, the Litchfield Eagles Club and the MN Street Rod Association. Craig had a knack for fixing things and was able to make 'something out of nothing' so that it would serve a purpose. He enjoyed hunting, ice fishing, snowmobiling, watching and attending MN Vikings games, playing bingo, riding motorcycle, socializing with friends, and going for car rides with his dog Fritz. Craig is survived by his children Kelly (Jerry Jr.) Block of Cosmos, MN and Jeremy Smith of Kimball, MN; 3 grandchildren Evan, Nora and Brenna Block; mother Florence of Green Leaf, MN; sisters Nancy (Doug) Piepenburg of Litchfield, MN and Jayne (Mark) Holmgren of Litchfield, MN; former wife Sue; and nieces and nephews Justin Piepenburg, Erin Piepenburg, Ryan Holmgren and Ashley Holmgren.
