Cheryl C. Almgren, age 81, of Litchfield, MN, died on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Ecumen Emmanuel Home in Litchfield. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Augustana Memorial Chapel in Litchfield. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at the Lake Ripley Cemetery, Litchfield, MN. Cheryl Catherine Almgren, the daughter of Raymond and Mabel (Platt) Caswell, was born on January 7, 1933 in Minneapolis, MN. She grew up on the John Brandt farm, graduated from Litchfield High School and was united in marriage to Robert Almgren. Cheryl enjoyed working with the public, and throughout the years she worked at Honeywell, as a switchboard operator and as a drugstore clerk, but she was best known as a historian, working as a curator at the Litchfield G.A.R. Hall for many years. Cheryl loved to laugh, had a quick wit, and was proud of her independence. She will be remembered for her unique character, her outspoken honest values and for her compassionate nature. Cheryl enjoyed reading, studying history, doing crossword puzzles, and spending time with her friends. She is survived by her daughters Barbara Penk of Alexandria, MN and Cindy Stueber of Atwater, MN; 3 grandchildren Jesse Stueber, Jennifer Stueber and Samantha Schroeder; 4 great grandchildren; brother Richard (Suzanne) Caswell of Long Lake, MN; and sister Mary (Charles) Sommerfeld of Manannah, MN; sisters-in-law Pearl Caswell, Mona Almgren and Mary Ann Nesseth. She is preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Mabel; husband Robert; son Robert Todd; brothers Raymond, Mark and Robert; and sisters Lois and Margaret.Previous Events
