Charles Ness

Charles R. Ness Jr., age 77, of Litchfield, died on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at the Solara Hospital in McAllen, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 22, 2008 at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Worthington officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home. Interment will be in Ness Memorial Lutheran Cemetery. Charles Rudolph Ness Jr., the son of Charles Sr. and Anna (Lindgren) Ness was born on April 17, 1931 in Litchfield, Minnesota. He received his education and graduated from the Litchfield High School. After high school Charles worked on the family farm until he took up interior decorating in Litchfield. He then moved to the Twin Cities and continued to do interior decorating. He was united in marriage to Joyce Tostenson on February 15, 1975 at Ness Lutheran Church. After continuing to work in the Twin Cities, he retired and they moved to Palisade, Minnesota. They began wintering in Texas in the early 1990’s. Charles was a member of the Sons of Norway. He enjoyed quilting and never missed an opportunity to play the organ in church. He also enjoyed several pet dogs over the years. Charles is survived by his wife Joyce Ness of Litchfield, sister-in-law Alma Ness of Battle Ground, Washington, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Anna; and brothers and sisters Burton, Paul, Violet and Ruby.
