Cedric F. Williams, age 89, of Litchfield died on Saturday, September 1, 2012, at Ecumen of Litchfield. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Christian Muellerleile officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield. Interment will be in the Lake Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield with Military Honors by the Litchfield Military Honor Guard. Cedric Frank Williams Jr., the son of Cedric and Ellen (Brown) Williams, was born on April 25, 1923, in South Portland, Maine. He graduated from high school in South Portland and enlisted in the US Army in 1943. He served as a meat and dairy inspector in Chicago, Illinois where he met and married Violet Hutar from Aikin, MN. After his military service he returned to Maine and attended college. Cedric continued his education at William Mitchell College of Law and graduated with a Ph.D. in Law. Cedric and Violet moved to the Cosmos area where he practiced law in Cosmos and Hector. In 1967, he became Judge of Probate and served part time. In 1972, he became a fulltime judge for the 8th District and donated his law office in Cosmos to the Library Association. He served on the bench until he retired in 1987. Violet died in 1980, and in 1984 he and Arlene McCoy were married in Makaha, Hawaii. Together they summered in Litchfield and wintered in Hawaii. Cedric enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching football and collecting stamps. He and Arlene enjoyed travelling and visited every state in the U.S. He is survived by his wife, Arlene Williams of Litchfield, sons Cedric (and Diane) Williams III, of Blaine, Gary Williams of Litchfield, step-son Michael (and Connie) McCoy of Lebanon, IL, step daughters, Mary McCoy of Litchfield and Marcia (and Andy) Haefner of Crystal Lake, IL. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, brother-in-law Donald Holmgren of Dassel, sisters-in-law, Deloris Williams of South Portland, Maine and Phyllis Johnson of Litchfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Violet, daughters Beverly Foster and Mary Williams, brothers Roger and John Williams and sisters Mary Bartlett, Audrey Dierjean and Phyliss Twombly. In lieu of flowers, memorials are asked to be donated to the American Diabetes Association and the Zion Lutheran Memorial Fund in Cedric's name. Previous Events
