Catherine Porten

Catherine Porten, age 98, of Litchfield died on Sunday, December 31, 2012, at Ecumen of Litchfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, January 7, 2012, at the Church of St. Philip. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church with the Daughters of Isabella Rosary at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Morris, MN. Catherine Porten, the daughter of John and Anna (Koerner) Porten, was born on June 27, 1914, in Morris, MN. She received her education graduating from St. Mary's High School in 1932 and attended St. Mary's vocational school graduating in 1933. She lived in Morris until moving to Litchfield in 1948. She worked as an accountant for Wells Investment Company and then Pro-Vid-All. She enjoyed bowling and ceramics, Augustana Garden Club, watching TV and playing cards such as 500 and bridge. She was an active member of the Church of St. Philip, was the church sacristan for years, a member of CCW and D of I. Catherine was a loving and caring person who was very generous to the missions and a variety of charities. Catherine was preceded in death by her parents John and Anna, brother Edward (and Lucille) Porten and sister Marguerite Porten. She is survived by several cousins and many close caring friends.
