Carol Minchey

Carol A. Minchey, age 68, of Litchfield, MN, lost her 4 year battle with cancer on Friday, November 16, 2012, at the Ecumen Emmanuel Nursing Home in Litchfield. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at the Lighthouse Church in Litchfield. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family or to the American Cancer Association. Carol Ann Minchey, the daughter of Stanley and Irene (Beckman) Kruger, was born in Litchfield on September 8, 1944. Carol attended Litchfield public schools, graduating in 1962. She was married to the late Dennis Gustafson and had 3 children. They later divorced and eventually she moved to Texas in the 1970s where she met her husband Elbert. She was united in marriage to Elbert Minchey in Juarez, Old Mexico on October 18, 1977. After living in Texas and Oklahoma for many years, they moved to Minnesota in 2002. In 2008 they decided to make their home in Litchfield. Throughout her life she worked many jobs serving and caring for people. The last 13 of her workings years she was at the Walmart companies where she found a great connection with customers and coworkers. Carol always made fast friends; she was friendly, kind and approachable. She loved a good laugh and would tell and re-tell her funny stories to anyone that would listen. Carol also enjoyed fishing, playing cards, talking and visiting with friends. She enjoyed going to auctions and garage sales searching for special items to add to her collections. She was an avid MN Twins fan, rarely missing a game on TV. She had the opportunity to see a couple of games at the dome all donned in her Twins jersey and cap. Carol was proud of her children and especially proud of all her grandchildren. She was a member of the Lighthouse Church in Litchfield. Carol is survived by her husband Elbert, children; Barb (and Jeff) Unterburger of Monticello, MN, Lisa (and Wade) Gerten of Minneapolis, MN and Brian (and Susan) Gustafson of Litchfield, MN, 7 grandchildren; Dustin and Carter Casey, Carrie (and Justin) Casey-DeMorrett, Ruby and Emma Gerten, Elisa and Amanda Gustafson, 2 sisters; Sharon (and Neil) Meyer of Lake Park, MN and Lorie Fischer of Litchfield, MN, 4 nieces and nephews; Todd Hoelmer, Jon Hoelmer, Sarah Fischer and Mark Fischer, her two aunts; Ruby Kruger and Jean Davey and many cousins.
