Burton C. Lundgren, age 94, of Litchfield died on Friday, September 16, 2011 at Ecumen of Litchfield. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at the Lighthouse Church with Pastor Chris Castilleja officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Our Lady of Manannah Catholic Cemetery in Manannah. Military Honors will be provided by the Litchfield Military Honor Guard. Burton Charles Lundgren, the son of Charley and Edna (Brandt) Lundgren, was born on April 11, 1917, in Lafayette, Minnesota. He grew up in that area but, then moved with his family south west of Willmar when he was seventeen. He worked with his dad on the family farm until he entered the US Army during WWII. Burton served in the Aleutian Islands during the war. In March of 1943, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Bartlett in Fort Ord, CA. After service he returned to Minnesota and they engaged in farming in Meeker County. In 1954, they moved to Oregon and he worked as a carpenter and logger. They once again returned to Minnesota in 1965 and bought a farm north of Litchfield. Five years later they settled south of Litchfield where they had lived until they moved in with Cecilia. About 4 years ago, he moved into Ecumen and resided there until his death. Burton was a member of the VFW and Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed tinkering in the garden and on the farm and wood working. He especially loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his children; Ethel (and Rick) Sandry of Litchfield, Cecilia Dorman of Litchfield, Cynthia (and Gerald) Rossell of Willmar, Thomas (and Barb) Lundgren of Olalla, WA, Colletta (and Brian) Yerka of Dassel, Robert Lundgren of Litchfield, Myron (and LeAnn) Lundgren of New London and Beatrice Lundgren of Dassel, 23 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 2 sons; John and Frances, grandson; Roger Dorman and sister Jeanette Ruter. Previous Events
