Bruce Phillip Johnson

Bruce P. Johnson, age 66, died on Tuesday, January 21st. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 26, 2014, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Friends may gather at the church one hour prior to the service. Bruce Phillip Johnson, the son of Leonard and Gladys (Bonham) Johnson, was born on May 5, 1947, in Willmar, MN. He grew up in Willmar and graduated from Willmar Senior High School in 1965. He attended Willmar Junior College and was Deputy Sheriff of Kandiyohi County for several years. He also went to Metro State College in Denver and graduated with a criminal justice major. He was a parole and probation agent in Meeker County from 1972 until 1999. He was also an active member of the Litchfield Rescue Squad for numerous years and served two consecutive terms on the Litchfield City Council. Bruce married Bev Yordi on October 19, 1974, in Willmar. Upon retirement, they moved from Litchfield to 6th Crow Wing Lake in Nevis, MN, where they enjoyed spending time with their family and beloved Gordon Setters. Bruce could often be found on their deck overlooking the lake; newspaper in hand and relishing a cold brew. Along with his love for the two setters, nothing delighted Bruce more than spending time with his four grandchildren. Bruce is survived by his wife, Bev of Nevis, MN; children Chantel (and Michael) Fragassi of St. Paul, MN, Chadd (and Kristen) Johnson of Philadelphia, PA, and the ""Grands"" Charlie, Calla, Soren and Nikolai. Although Bruce was an only child, he is also survived by the two siblings he had garnered through life, rather than blood. His bossy, beloved, big-brother, Thomas D. Nagel and the little sister he always wished he had, Tammy Thompson.
