A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at the Church of St. Philip in Litchfield, MN. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Monday at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home with a 6:30 PM prayer service and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Litchfield. Bette Arvidson (our dear mom) was born 1-27-29 near Wilno, Minnesota to Joe and Mary (Przymus) Sovell. She married our dad Leo (Paul) Vlaminck in Minneota on June 24, 1947. Our family lived in Minneota, Dassel, Grove City and Litchfield. Mom and Dad raised our family of five children: Linda Kmitch (and Bob) of Sartell; Butch; Pat Fluck of Atwater; Bernie Peterson (and Lee) of Darwin and Jerry (and Angie) of Delano. Dad died in 1992 after they had been married for 45 years. On June 29, 1995, she married Cal Arvidson. She treasured her grandchildren - Karla, Nathan, Steve, Sherry, Jason, Mollie, Andrea, Leah, Jack, Luke, Rose and Ellie as well as her 13 great grandchildren. Our mom was a great homemaker, supporting Dad in his construction business and raising five kids. They bought and remodeled many homes. She was a terrific cook and loved to have her family and friends for meals. But we knew that we better not come home for Sunday dinner unless we had been to church first. She was a great homemaker and found many fun bargains at garage sales. Every Christmas, we could expect a great gift she found at a garage sale in addition to her other gifts. She had a large garden which we all remember weeding for hours. She loved to visit and truly enjoyed her many wonderful friends over the years. Later in life, she worked as a health home assistant and was honored to be awarded Employee of the Year for Augustana Homes. She volunteered to visit older people and usually brought homemade cookies. She also volunteered for Hospice Care and was active in St. Philips Catholic Church. She was known as a great care taker throughout her life. She touched a lot of lives in her years. She was a dear lady with a giving heart until Alzheimer's disease robbed her of her memory. Our mom was sad to be the last one of her family. She missed her parents and loved her brothers and sisters: Harry, Julie, Romelle, Leona, Ed, Leo, Bernice, Lawrence and Donna. She was the youngest of her family and was the apple of her pa's eye. She was preceded in death by her husbands Paul and Cal, son Butch, great granddaughter Lily and all her brothers and sisters. We are thankful to Dr. Detert for his care over many years and to the wonderful staff at Lakeview Ranch for their wonderful compassionate care. We knew that Mom was being cared for by the best and words cannot simply express our gratitude to the staff of Lakeview Ranch. Most of all, we are thankful to our Mom for all she did to raise us and teach us. Our family will dearly miss her. Memorials are preferred to Lakeview Ranch-Activity Fund - In Memory of Bette Arvidson. The address is 69531 213th St., Darwin, MN 55324.Previous Events
