Barbara J. Muldowney

Barbara Jean Carlson Muldowney, 66 years of age, died Sunday July 7, 2013 at the Heritage of Foley, Foley, Minnesota. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday, July 26, 2013 at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Internment will be in Grove City, MN at First Lutheran Cemetery. Barbara Jean Carlson was born on November 6, 1946 to Gerald and Kathryn (Johnson) Carlson. Barbara was christened on December 1, 1946 at First Lutheran Church, Grove City, MN. She was confirmed on September 25, 1960 at First Lutheran Church, Grove City, MN. Barbara spent her childhood on the family farm in Harvey Township, Meeker County with her parents and sisters, Gayle and Patricia. She attended country school 1st through 6th and then went to school in Litchfield where she graduated in 1964. She then attended Willmar Community College. After college she worked in Hutchinson, Lester Prairie, Litchfield, Milaca and Foley. On November 9, 1983, her son Cassidy was born. He was the light of her world. Barb was ready to enjoy retirement when in March of 2012 she was diagnosed with multiple Melanoma. She fought a long hard battle with the cancer and all the problems that came with it. She is now at peace. Barbara is survived by her son, Cassidy of Foley, MN; her sister Gayle (Allen) Madsen of Darwin, MN; niece Wendy (James) Reimer of Portland, Oregon; nephews Steve (Nancy) Madsen and children, Sarah, Jacob, Joshua, and Kaylee of Litchfield, Chris (Jenny) Madsen and children, Nicole, Justine and Dylan of Darwin, Karl (Lauretta) Madsen and children Cheyenne Zachary and Elijah of Atwater, MN and children Alex and Taylor of Litchfield, and John Gilbertson Jr. of New York; and several aunts and cousins. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Kathryn Carlson; sister Patricia Gilbertson, grand niece Jaden Madsen; grandparents, George and Mary (Swanson) Carlson, Alton and Charlotte (Johnson) Johnson. Barbara will be missed by her family and friends.
