Barbara Holmberg

Barbara (Barb) J. Holmberg, age 87, of Litchfield, MN, died Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at the Talamore Senior Living Community in St. Cloud, MN. Visitation and Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024. Visitation at 1:00 PM, Funeral at 2:00 PM at First Lutheran Church, Litchfield, MN. Interment will be held in Lake Ripley Cemetery, Litchfield, Minnesota. The service will be livestreamed at www.johnsonhagglund.com

 Barbara (Barb) Holmberg, daughter of Earling and Thelma (Olson) Hanson was born November 14, 1936 at Rice Hospital in Willmar, MN. Barb was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Lake Lillian, Minnesota. Barb attended Atwater School District and graduated in 1954.

 Barb married Chet Holmberg on October 7, 1961. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Litchfield, Minnesota. Barb and Chet had two children, Jane and Jeff, making their home in Litchfield. Barb worked at the Atwater Creamery, Meeker County Courthouse, The Shoe Peddler, and Greenbriar Floral in addition to being a Homemaker and raising their children.

 Barb is survived by her daughter, Jane (Joel) Meyer, grandchildren Kjerstin (Riley) Johnson, Nic (Noelle) Meyer and great grandson Lincoln Meyer; her son Jeff (Anne) Holmberg, grandchildren Addison, Lucy and Ryan Holmberg. She is survived by her siblings Marian Ostendorf, Earling Jr. (Lois) Hanson, Doug (Eileen) Hanson, Mike Hanson, sister-in-law Darlene Holmberg and nieces and nephews.

 Barb is preceded in death by her husband Chet, parents Earling and Thelma (Olson) Hanson, brother-in-law Ervin Ostendorf, brother William Roger and sister-in-law Mary Hanson.

 Memorials to “Meals on Wheels” in Litchfield or “Moments Hospice” in St. Cloud are preferred in lieu of flowers.
