Audrey L. Boerner

Audrey Ladonna (Glander) Boerner, age 91, passed away on Friday June 24, 2022 at her home.

Audrey Ladonna Boerner was born September 20, 1930 in New Auburn, MN. She was the daughter of Fred and Malinda (Bartles) Glander. She was baptized and later confirmed in her faith as a youth. Audrey received her education in Glencoe, MN and was a graduate of Glencoe High School.

Audrey married Donald Boerner in 1949. They resided in Gaylord,MN and were blessed with four children. Audrey and Don were married 23 years when the marriage ended in divorce.

Audrey was a career women working for the Sibley County Highway Department, later moving to Glencoe, MN where she owned and operated a laundromat. She also was employed by American Family Insurance and active in the local Community Theatre. Audrey then moved into the Twin Cities area continuing to work for American Family Insurance as a insurance adjuster, retiring in 1996.

Retirement led her to the shores of Lake Minnie Belle south of Litchfield,MN. She resided there with her longtime partner Mark Schramm until her passing. Audrey was very community oriented. While living in Gaylord she organized, established and was the leader for many years of the first Brownie and Girl Scout troops. She was instrumental in introducing fluoride to Gaylord’s drinking water. Audrey was an active member of the American Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday School and was active with the Youth Group. During retirement at Lake Minnie Belle she volunteered on the Lake Minnie Belle Association Board and was editor of the lake newsletter. She was also a passionate environmentalist concerning the lake.

Audrey was a avid reader, sports fan, music lover, cook and traveler. She enjoyed her leisurely life on the lake with family, friends and over the years their three German Shorthair dogs. She also enjoyed boating on the lake with her partner Mark Schramm.

Audrey is survived by her children Steven (Vicki) Boerner of Gaylord, Amy (Paul) Bakke of Lake Mary, FL, Sara (Matthew) Bowers of Minneapolis and Fred (Marilyn) Boerner of Cornville, AZ; grandchildren Maya Bakke, Quinn Bakke, Russell (Shannon) Boerner, Natalie Bowers, Heather Evans, Matthew (Samantha) Evans; great grandchildren Esther, Ruth, Grace, Faith and Caleb Boerner, Cohen Strang, Morgan and Mason Evans, Xander and Zadek Gesche, nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.

Audrey was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Malinda Glander, sisters Gloria Deis and

Mary Kallestad, granddaughter Erin Gesche and great granddaughter Aeon Gesche.

Funeral service will be held Saturday July 23, 2022 at 11 am, at American Lutheran Church, 911 8th Street, Gaylord, MN.
