Arthur Wayne Osmundson, age 77, of Litchfield, MN, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2016 at the Dassel Lakeside Health Care Center. A funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church and will continue one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be held at Lake Ripley Cemetery, Litchfield, MN. Wayne was born on July 5, 1938 in Madelia, MN to Sophia Marion (Thompson) Osmundson and Nels Arthur Osmundson. In 1951 at age 13, the family moved to a farm four miles south of Litchfield, MN after Wayne's dad checked out many farms and found a farm that he liked with no rocks to pick and good water. Wayne was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield. He attended District 13 Country School and graduated from Litchfield High School in 1956. Wayne worked at various part time jobs in Litchfield including Litchfield Lumber and the Litchfield Elevator. He also farmed with his dad on their farm raising hogs, some chickens and growing crops. Wayne was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield. On October 27, 1973 Wayne met Mary K. Bell in Litchfield. They were married on October 26, 1974 at the St. Philip's Catholic Church in Litchfield. They were married 41 years. They farmed together, raising hogs, crops and Mary's cats. In 2011 they sold just the farmland and retired from farming the land, and then sold the hogs. Wayne always enjoyed going to auction sales. Auctioneers always liked to see him come and buy scrap iron. He bought scrap metals to recycle to scrap iron places. He enjoyed buying and selling to anyone that wanted to buy miscellaneous metals at the farm. Others were always glad they found what they needed for their projects. At the Hutchinson Sales Barn he was known as #41, his lucky number over the years. Wayne also enjoyed having coffee with his friends in town and visiting restaurants in the area, to see his many friends. On March 23, 2012, Wayne started dialysis at Litchfield Dialysis. The nurses and doctors were well liked and referred to as our second family. Wayne spent time at Sterling Park Nursing Home in St. Cloud, and most recently at Lakeside Nursing Home in Dassel. Wayne was a stubborn Norwegian, who never wanted to give up, and he enjoyed receiving and giving hugs. Arthur Wayne Osmundson is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mary; sister Lois and brother-in-law Bob Olson of Hayward, WI; sister-in-law Karen Osmundson of Longville, MN; sister-in-law DeAnna Heller of Blaine, MN; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Tom and Elaine Bell of Northfield, MN; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
