ARTHUR M HUKRIEDE

Arthur M. Hukriede, 79 of Richmond, died Sunday, September 18, 2011 at the VAMC in St. Cloud. A Celebration Of Life will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 11:30 am at Assumption Catholic Church in Eden Valley. Friends may gather from 9:30 am until time of service on Saturday at the church. Inurnment will take place at the MN State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls on Monday, September 26, 2011 at 11:00 am. Fr. Virgil Braun will officiate. Arrangements are with the Ertl Funeral Home, Watkins. Arthur M. Hukriede was born on August 15, 1932 at Eden Valley, Minnesota. He was the son of Otto and Alma (Luedkte) Hukriede. Art served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1954. On July 16, 1955, Art was united in marriage to Mary H. Schommer at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins. They resided at Crystal for many years where Art was employed as a court clerk for Hennepin County. In 1988, he retired and they moved to Browns Lake. Art was a member of Assumption Church in Eden Valley and a member of the Eden Valley American Legion. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially deer hunting. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and traveling to and spending winter months in Mesquite, NV. Art is survived by his wife, Mary of Richmond; children and their spouses, Cindy Hukriede of Paynesville, Dan and Chrystal Hukriede of Paynesville, Missy and Todd Cole of Chippewa Falls, WI; daughter-in-law, Denise Hukriede of Crystal; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; brothers and sister and their spouses, Vernon and Mary Ann Hukriede of Richmond, Adeline and Lowell Neumann of Apache Junction, AZ, Russell and Judy Hukriede of Grand Rapids, Ronald and Darlene Hukriede of Annandale, Wayne and Liz Hukriede of Minneapolis; nieces and nephews. Art was preceded in death by his parents; son, Tim Hukriede and an infant son; granddaughter, Nikki Hukriede; brother and sister, Gordon Hukriede and Viola Pratt. Memorials are preferred.
