Arthur M Donnay

Arthur M. Donnay, 94 of Watkins, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2014 from natural causes at the Hilltop Care Center in Watkins. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Anne Catholic Church in Kimball. Fr. Thomas Olson will officiate. Interment will be in St. Anne Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Ertl Funeral Home in Watkins and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Arthur M. Donnay was born on February 3, 1920 at Watkins, Minnesota. He was the son of Joseph and Angeline (Wittman) Donnay. Arthur served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On June, 6, 1947, Arthur was united in marriage to Agnes Braegelmann at St. Anne Catholic Church in Kimball. They farmed in the Fair Haven area and Arthur was also employed as a nursing assistant at the VAMC in St. Cloud, retiring in 1985. Agnes passed away in 1998 and Arthur moved to Watkins 2001. On September 29, 2000, Arthur was united in marriage to Vera (Webb) Knoll in Holdingford. Arthur was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Kimball. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Kimball American Legion. His hobbies included wood working and gardening. Survivors include his wife, Vera of Watkins; children and their spouses, Allan and Jean Donnay of St. Cloud, CarolAnn and Dale Zika of Sartell, Jerry and Dorothy Donnay of Elk River, Joseph and Laureen Donnay of Maricopa, AZ, Diane and Jim Schwartz of St. Cloud, Melanie and Mike Bevers of Ft. Collins, CO, Colleen Moore of Cushing; step-children and their spouses, Teresa and Larry Kunkel of Kimball, Stella Paige of Milano, TX, Martin and Deb Knoll of Kimball, Susan and Dave Donabauer of Kimball, Kathy and Dave Simmons of North Pole, AK, Kenny Knoll of Kimball, Mary Lou and Steve Salmela of Fairbanks, AK; 81 grandchildren and step grandchildren, 78 great grandchildren and step great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren and step great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Agnes in 1998; son, Jeffrey in 1968; grandson, Jared Schwartz; son-in-law, Wayne Moore; brother, Don Donnay.
