Areline L. Slinden

Areline L. Slinden, age 90, of Litchfield, MN died on Monday, February 26, 2018 at the Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield, MN. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday March 3, 2018 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Atwater, MN. Visitation will be held from 9:00 - 11:00 AM at the church on Saturday. Interment will be held in the Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery. Areline Lorretta Slinden, the daughter of Albert and Wilhelmina (Meier) Yungk was born on June 5, 1927 in Kandiyohi County, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church in Olivia, MN and attended School District #41. Areline was united in marriage to Harland Slinden on September 1, 1945 in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Atwater. She farmed with Harland in Acton Township near Grove City for many years. She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church and the Sons of Norway. She enjoyed riding horses when she was young, quilting, embroidering, gardening, puzzles and playing cards and bingo. She also enjoyed making lefse, taking trips and going to Jackpot Junction and socializing and having coffee with her friends and family. Areline was a member of the birthday club and loved to bake with her grandchildren. Areline is survived by her grandchildren Sabrina (Robert) Sackett of Grove City, MN, Jeffery (Melanie Nelson) Slinden of Grove City, MN, Suzanna (Donnie) Nussbaum of Litchfield, MN and Donovan (Jaime) Slinden, Jr. of Willmar, MN; great grandchildren Karlyn, Abigail, Mallory, Tristen, Paige, Shelby, Shayne, Wyatt, JossLynn and Ava; daughter-in-law Marilyn; special friend Pat Braaten of Litchfield, MN; and many nieces, nephews and relatives. Areline was preceded in death by her husband Harland; son Donovan; great grandson Adian; and brothers and sisters Ervin, Richard, Benjamin, Irma and Alvina.
