Reins, Ardell Richard, age 83, of Minnetonka, passed away on September 28, 2018, at Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, MN. Ardell was born on July 2, 1935, in Atwater, MN to parents, John and Florence (Groebner) Reins. He graduated from Olivia High School in 1953. He moved to Minneapolis and was employed at Honeywell and Hilex. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany, from 1954 to 1956, where he worked as a Postal Clerk. He was married to Patricia Faye Oestreich at Church of St. Philip, in Litchfield, MN on November 14, 1959. Ardell and Pat moved to Minnetonka, MN in 1960 and became members at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Ardell was employed at Honeywell, where he worked as a Group Leader and was active in Minnregs until he retired in 1992.
Ardell loved country music. He and Pat enjoyed dancing and loyally followed several singers and bands over the years. Many lifelong friendships were made among the wonderful people met through music and dancing. Ardell loved to laugh and always had a smile on his face. He loved to tease and was usually quick with a funny remark. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ardell was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Pat, who passed away on June 9, 2018, his parents, his in-laws, Walter and Alice (McNellis) Oestreich, sisters, Deloris Reins, Arlene Erickson, and Vivian Gulden, brothers-in-law, Robert Erickson, William Oestreich, and Bernell Buck, and sister-in-law Arlene Oestreich.
Ardell is survived by his children, Kathy Heyer (Scott), Dan Reins (Cathy), Lisa Reins, and Nancy Reins, and grandchildren, Courtney Reins (fiancé Brian Kalwasinski), Daniel Heyer, Jacob Reins, Sarah Heyer, and Alexa Reins, brother Frederick Reins (Darlene) of Rogers, brothers-in-law, Lloyd Gulden of Montevideo, and Gayle Oestreich of Hutchinson, sisters-in-law, Shirley Buck and Mary Oestreich, both of Litchfield, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family, and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 5, 2018, at Church of St. Philip in Litchfield, MN, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Visitation will also be at Church of St. Philip on Thursday, October 4, 2018, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, in Litchfield.
