Archie R. Peters, age 91, of Litchfield died on Friday, October 10, 2014, at the Ecumen Emmanuel Home of Litchfield. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 14th at the Litchfield United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Monday, October 13th at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be in the Ripley Cemetery with Military Honors by the Litchfield Military Honor Guard. Archie Robert Peters, the son of William and Minnie (Larson) Peters, was born on August 23, 1923, in Litchfield. He grew up near Forest City and helped his family farm. In 1947, he entered the U.S. Army and received training in refrigeration. He repaired and maintained refrigerators in Korea in 1948. He returned to Minnesota and continued farming with his father. On September 30, 1950, he was united in marriage to Clarice Ditlevson. In 1957 they began dairy farming near Round Lake in Darwin Township. Archie enjoyed singing and sang with the Litchfield Male Chorus for seven years. He served on the Darwin Township Board for over 30 years and was a life member of the V.F.W. Archie was an active member of the Litchfield United Methodist church. He served as an usher and help with many church activities including the Men's Breakfast. During his retirement years he enjoyed his friend Buddy the horse. They went on many buggy rides together. He also enjoyed fishing. Archie enjoyed traveling, he and Clarice went to Hawaii in 1975 and 1980. They also traveled to Europe in 1982. Together they went on several bus trips to Branson, Iowa and Michigan. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Clarice of Litchfield, daughter, Coleen Peterson of Duluth, sons, Robert (and Judy) Peters of Glenwood and Wesley (and Kathy) Peters of Arizona (formerly of Litchfield). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Cole Peterson, Garret (and Lauren) Peterson, Beth (and Dana) McKigney, Brian Peters, Codi Mogensen and Tonya Peters; great grandchildren, Chloe Mogensen, Cordelia Mogensen and Benjamin McKigney. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Melba Stevens and brother Boynton (and Marion) Peters.
