Anna M. Schoolmeesters, age 97, of Forest City, MN, died on Friday March 30, 2018 at the Dassel Lakeside Healthcare Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday April 3, 2018 at the Church of St. Gertrude in Forest City, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Monday at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield with a 7:30 PM Prayer service. Interment will be held in St. Gertrude's Catholic Cemetery.
Anna Margaret Schoolmeesters, the daughter of Anton and Mary (Statz) Nistler was born in Eden Valley, MN on December 6, 1920. She graduated from Assumption Grade School in Eden Valley and was united in marriage to Leander Schoolmeesters in the Assumption Catholic Church in Eden Valley on September 11, 1945. She was a lifelong member of the Church of St. Gertrude, where she was active in all of the church activities. When she was young, Anna enjoyed playing ball and ice skating. She enjoyed playing cards, canning, flower and vegetable gardening and singing. Ann also enjoyed hand embroidery. She was a proficient quilter and made many quilts for her grandchildren, both when they were young and as they grew older. She will be remembered for her humble, hardworking, no nonsense traits.
Anna is survived by her children Sr. Kathryn Schoolmeesters S.S.N.D. of Mankato, MN, Mary (Jim) Kosak of Olivia, MN, Trudy (Bill) Landgren of Edina, MN, LeeAnn (Len) Wagner of Litchfield, MN, Margaret Schoolmeesters of Champlin, MN, Andy (Michelle) Schoolmeesters of Litchfield, MN and Chuck (Linda) Schoolmeesters of Litchfield, MN; 18 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leander; son Joseph; daughter Betty; great grandson Hunter; and all of her siblings.
