Amelia A. ""Millie"" Garvey, age 87, of Litchfield, MN, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2013 at the Ecumen Emmanuel Home. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 8, 2013, at St. Philips Catholic Church in Litchfield, MN. Private interment will be in the Church of Our Lady Cemetery in Manannah, MN, at a later time. Amelia Ann Garvey was born on November 11, 1925, to Math and Christina Dockendorf on a farm near Eden Valley, MN. She married Dennis P. Garvey Jr. on August 24, 1948 and to this union 3 children were born. She lived in many different places, in various states, as well as in Germany, with her husband during his career in the U.S. Army. After his retirement from the military, they bought a farm close to Manannah, MN. Her husband passed away in November of 1969 and Amelia moved to Litchfield in 1974. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, playing cards and was known to tell a joke or two. She was a member of the Eden Valley Legion Ladies Auxiliary and a life member of the Litchfield VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Amelia is survived by her children Dennis (and Diane) Garvey of Watertown, SD, Carol Garvey of Minneapolis, MN, and Marian Garvey of Litchfield, MN; 2 grandchildren Daniel (and Denise) Garvey, and Brent Garvey; 2 great grandchildren, Dayna & Dustin; sister Viola Miller of Litchfield, MN; brother Mike Dockendorf of Eden Valley, MN; sisters in law Elaine Dockendorf of Cold Spring, MN, Anna Marie (Earl) Howard of Minneapolis, MN; and brother in law Msgr. Francis Garvey of Manannah, MN. She was preceded in death by herparents; husband; brothersAlbert Neis, Alex Dockendorf, Gilbert Dockendorf, Lawrence Dockendorf, John Dockendorf, and Leo Dockendorf; sisters Olivia Gruenes and Elizabeth Bokovoy.Previous Events
