Alvina A. Marklowitz

Alvina ""Al"" A. Marklowitz, age 98, of Litchfield, MN died on Monday, May 25, 2015 at the Ecumen Bethany Home in Litchfield, MN. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at the Church of St. Philip in Litchfield, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be held at the Lake Ripley Cemetery, Litchfield, MN. Alvina (Al) Marklowitz was born in Stearns County to John Fred Meyer and Mary Elizabeth (Kenning) Meyer on March 25, 1917. On September 29, 1936 she was united in marriage to Edgar (Ed) Marklowitz in St. Augusta, MN. Together they lived north of Darwin, MN and later moved to a farm Southwest of Litchfield, MN. During this time they had a dairy operation and crop farmed. Al was an active member of St. Philip's Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella and the Sewing/Quilting group. She was also active in Home Extension, P.T.A., Litchfield Lioness Club, Fishing Club, Litchfield Golf Club, the bicycle club and was a 4-H Leader for 10 years. She enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening, sewing, crafts, golfing, trying to ""out fish Ed"", coffee & gathering with the ""fish fry friends"", cards, dancing, and making good food for many people. Besides being a homemaker she worked as a Nurse Aide at the Meeker County Hospital, a waitress at the Litchfield Golf Club for 15 years and also worked at the Heritage Bake & Coffee Shop in Litchfield. Later in life she and Ed enjoyed winters in Mesa Arizona. Al is survived by her children Ed Marklowitz, Jr. and special friend Marlys Bjur of Litchfield, LaVonne (Hal) Huso of Litchfield, grandchildren Dawn Marklowitz and fiance Dan Rajewsky of Paynesville, MN, Carey (Brett) Greenwald of Las Vegas, Nevada, and great grandson Kenny Greenwald. She is also survived by a sister Mary Lou Hoiseth of Las Vegas Nevada.
