Allan Stenberg

Allan R. Stenberg, age 74, of Litchfield died peacefully at his home on Friday, August 7, 2009. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 10, 2009, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield with pastors Harvey Nelson and Christian Muellerleile officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 9th from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the church and will continue one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Arndahl Cemetery with military honors provided by the Litchfield Military Honor Guard. Allan Richard Stenberg, the son of Albert and Nora (Evenson) Stenberg, was born on March 7, 1935 in Grove City. He grew up and received his education in Grove City graduating from Grove City High School in 1953. Allan was in the U.S. Army from 1955 until 1957. On August 12, 1967, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Barber in Ladysmith , WI. They made their home in Litchfield where Allan worked for Meeker Coop Light and Power for 40 years as a lineman and operations manager. Allan also owned and operated a meter testing business, testing electrical meters for Meeker Co-op, and the cities of Litchfield, Grove City and Darwin. Allan was a member of the West Central Connection Barbershop Chorus and an active member at Zion, being involved with the men’s bible study, stewardship and choir. Some of Allan’s favorite activities included singing, “fixing things”, antique tractors, auctions and yard work. Most important to him was his faith and trust in Jesus and his love for his wife, children and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Litchfield, daughter, Julie (and Scott) Lucier of Moorhead, son, David (and Christina) Stenberg of Lebanon, IN., six grandchildren; Tyson, Jordyn, Ryan, Noah, Elijah and Micah. He is also survived by his brother, Dean Stenberg of Grove City and sister LaVonne (and Mel) Haugstad of Preston, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents.
