Alice Caroline Greeley

Alice C. Greeley, age 90, of Litchfield, MN, died Sunday, October 10, 2010, at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Litchfield, MN. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, October 13, 2010, at 11AM at the United Methodist Church in Litchfield with Pastor Bill Kerr officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 12, 2010, from 5PM to 7PM at Johnson Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield. Interment will be held at Burr Oak Cemetery. Alice Caroline (Wendroth) Greeley, the daughter of George and Ida (Schultz) Wendroth, was born September 9, 1920, in Meeker County. She attended country school through the 8th grade. Alice met and fell in love with Jarvis Greeley. They were united in marriage on July 2, 1939, at the church parsonage in Hutchinson. This union was blessed with five children: Karen, Clarice, Lois, Willis, and Willard. Being a wife and mother suited Alice thoroughly and she enjoyed raising her family while farming with Jarvis in Meeker County. To Alice, family always came first. Through the years, her extended family looked to her for guidance in raising their own children. Alice found great joy and countless blessings in her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren. Hard work never escaped Alice while on the farm. Besides helping her husband, she took care of her family with quilting, baking and canning, crocheting, gardening, and sewing. Alice had a knack for flower gardening especially and loved to see the beautiful blooms of spring and summer. Alice's faith was paramount to who she was. She had a strong Christian belief and served God in many ways. She was an active member of Union Grove Methodist Church and later United Methodist Church in Litchfield. Alice is survived by a daughter, Lois (James) Patten of Cloquet, MN; two sons: Willis (Sharon) Greeley of Hutchinson, MN and Willard (Karen) Greeley of New London, MN; two sons-in-law: Bradley Midtling of Litchfield and Lee Wendroth of Eden Valley, MN; 15 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; one brother, Harold Wendroth of Litchfield. Alice was preceded in death by her husband Jarvis; parents; two daughters: Karen Wendroth and Clarice Midtling; and one granddaughter, Gayle Wendroth.
