Algot 'Junior' Knutson

Algot R. "Junior" Knutson, age 75, of Dassel, passed away Friday October 17th at the Burns Manor Nursing Home in Hutchinson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home with Pastor Bridget Haefner officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Litchfield Military Honor Guard. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home on Tuesday. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the services on Wednesday. Interment will be in Ripley Cemetery, Litchfield, MN. Algot Roland Knutson was born on February 22, 1933, to Algot and Katie (Brown) Knutson in Forest City Township, Meeker County, Minnesota. He attended School District 10, School District 16 and Litchfield High School. He served in the Army from 1953 to 1955, spending 18 months in Germany. When he returned he farmed in the Kingston area. On April 15, 1961 he was united in marriage to Annette Euerle at St. Matthews United Church of Christ in Forest City, MN. In 1967 he moved to Dassel and worked for Custom Products for over 30 years. Junior played with several different bands and was an accomplished guitar player. He enjoyed fishing, painting, listening to country music and spending time at the cabin. He was a gentle, quiet man who was a friend to everyone. Algot is survived by his wife Annette of Dassel; children Wanda (and Jim) Johnson of St. Paul, MN, Lori Carlson of Sherwood, Arkansas, Karen (and Keith) Severns of Mankato, MN and Diane Rideout of New Hope, MN; 11 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; brother Wilfred (and Mary) Knutson of Watkins; and a sister Lilas (and Ralph) Gilmer of Litchfield, MN. He is preceded in death by his parents Algot and Katie.
