Alfred "Butch" Kunkel

Alfred J. “Butch” Kunkel, age 79 of Darwin, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2024 at Dassel Lakeside Generations in Dassel, Minnesota. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday October 12, 2024 at the Church of St. Johns, in Darwin, MN. Visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 AM prior to the service. 

Alfred John Kunkel was born on December 14, 1944 to Alfred Kunkel and Hildegard Ressemann in Litchfield, Minnesota. Butch received his education at Litchfield High School.  He was united in marriage to Mildred on July 2, 1966. Their marriage was blessed with four children, James, JoAnn, Melissa and Patricia. He was a member of the Church of St. John. Butch worked at Ag Systems, the Turkey farm, and Anderson Crane. Butch enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, camping, boating, cracking jokes and loved his grandkids. 

Butch is survived by his wife Millie; children James (Jenny) Kunkel, JoAnn (Leon) Ebner and Melissa (Shawn) Hall-Thomas; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter on the way. He is also survived by his brother Paul (MaryAnn), sisters Rosanne, Cathy and Angie

He is proceeded in death by his parents Alfred and Hildegard Kunkel; daughter Patricia Shoutz, sister Audrey; father and mother-in-law James and Rose Wanous; and brother in law Myron Wanous.
