Agnes E. 'Peg' Larson, age 77, of Litchfield, died on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at the Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield, MN. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at the Zion Lutheran Church, Litchfield, MN. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Ripley Cemetery.
Agnes Esther 'Peg' Larson, the daughter of Rev. Walter and Frieda (Geske) Borchardt, was born on January 14, 1935, in Barnston, NE. She was baptized by her father on January 25, 1935. Growing up, she moved with her family to parishes in Franklin, Gothenburg, Lodgepole, Drake and Parkston. She was confirmed in 1950 in Drake, N.D. Peg graduated from high school in Parkston, South Dakota in 1953 and continued her education, attending Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa and graduated from the Fairview Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis in 1957. Peg was united in marriage to Richard Larson in Hazen, North Dakota on July 20, 1958. Together they made their home in Minot, Moorhead, Donaldson, and Madison, before settling in Litchfield in 1966. Peg worked as a registered nurse at many hospitals, clinics and nursing homes throughout her life, including, Fairview Hospital in Minneapolis, MN, Trinity Hospital in Minot, ND, St. Luke's Hospital in Fargo, ND, Madison Community Hospital in Madison, MN, Litchfield Medical Clinic in Litchfield, MN, Meeker County Memorial Hospital in Litchfield, MN and Zion Lutheran Church as a parish nurse. Peg often said, 'I've been very fortunate. I can't think of anything I would rather have done as a career. I guess nursing is just my bag.' Peg enjoyed being active in the community, serving on the Meeker County Community Home Board of Directors and the Augustana Home and Hospice Care Advisory Board. She was a Hospice volunteer, active in the Parish Nurse Network, and was the facilitator of the Alzheimer's Memory Loss Support and the Parkinson's Support. She was an active member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. Auxiliary and Zion Lutheran Church, where she served on WELCA, and various boards and circles. She also sang in the choir, helped with confirmation, and was the Parish Nurse. She is survived by her husband Richard; son Greg; daughter Laurie; brother, Rev. August (and Frances) Borchardt; sister Adele Borchardt; 3 nieces, 1 nephew, and many cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents parents Walter and Frieda; son Bruce and a sister Anna.Previous Events
