Agnes M. Henkelman, age 87, of Litchfield, died on Thursday, August 28, 2008 at the Emmanuel Nursing Home in Litchfield, MN. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2008 at 11:00 AM at First Lutheran Church in Litchfield with Pastor David Sorensen and Intern Pastor Christa Forsythe officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:30 until 8:00 PM at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home with a V.F.W. Auxillary service at 7:45 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior the service at the church. Interment will be in Lake Ripley Cemetery. Agnes Marie Henkelman was born on April 30, 1921, the daughter of Francis and Elvira (Collin) Johnson in Oxford Township, Isanti County, MN. She received her first 8 years of education at Rural School District #64 and graduated from Litchfield High School in 1939. She was united in marriage to Raymond Henkelman on February 29, 1940. Together they farmed in the Forest City area in Meeker County for many years. They also owned and operated the Dairy Queen in Pierre, South Dakota in 1959. Agnes was the dietery assistant at Bethany Home for a number of years and the last 15 years of her career she was the supervisor for a total of 32 years. She was also employed in her earlier years at Baril’s Paint Store, Sears and a waitress at the Litchfield Golf Club. She retired on May 15, 1998 when she was 77 years old. Agnes was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Litchfield, where she was active in the First Lutheran Bible Study Circle. She was also a member of the Forest City Women’s Club, V.F.W. Auxillary, and a "500" card club. Agnes enjoyed entertaining, traveling, and socializing. She will be remembered as a great host and will be known for her delicious cooking and pie baking ability. Agnes is survived by her sons; Duane and (Darlene) Henkelman and Dwight Henkelman and (special friend Cathy Verly) all of Litchfield, 2 grandchildren; Brent and (Theresa) Henkelman and Debra Henkelman; a great granddaughter Sarah Henkelman and a sister Eileen Krsiean. Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond, brothers; Marvin H.F. Johnson, Roy Johnson, Donald Johnson, and Ronald Johnson.
