Agnes E. Archbold, age 92, of Mankato and formerly of Litchfield, died Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Sunrise Cottage in Mankato.
A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Zion Lutheran Church, 504 Gilman Ave., Litchfield, MN. Visitation will be one hour before the service at church on Saturday. Burial will be in Lake Ripley Cemetery, Litchfield.
Agnes was born on May 8, 1915, the daughter of Nicolay and Mary (Ylvisker) Arntson on a farm near Sheldon, ND. She graduated from Sheldon High School and Valley City State Teachers College, Valley City, ND. She taught in several towns in North Dakota. On September 3, 1942, she married Kenneth J. Archbold. They farmed near Sheldon until 1948, when they moved to Litchfield, MN and farmed south of town. Agnes worked in the City Clerk's Office for 14 years. She was an active member of the Litchfield Business and Professional Club, Litchfield Women's Club, Sons of Norway, the DFL party, and Zion Lutheran Church.
Agnes is survived by two daughters, Jean (Warren) Renando of Jackson, MI, Sandy (David) Mutch of North Mankato; two sons, Jon (Susan) Archbold of Coon Rapids, Stephen (Audrey) Archbold of Hernando, FL; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; four sisters; and one brother.
