Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during visitation on March 13, 2024 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Stewart, Minnesota. The visitation will begin at 9:00 AM and conclude at 11:00 AM. A Memorial Service will follow at the church starting at 11:00 AM, celebrating Adline’s life.
Adline Marie Kottke was born at home on August 11, 1919, to Harry and Emma (Ehrenberg) Bulau. Adline was baptized on September 18, 1919, confirmed on March 25, 1934, and married to Norman Kottke June 4, 1941 all at St. Matthews Church in Fernando, Minnesota. Adline was the last surviving member of the graduating class of 1938 from Stewart High School.
Adline attended one year of teacher college in Glencoe, Minnesota. She went on to teach in Sibley County District 52 and McLeod County District 55 and 62. Adline also worked at 3M from 1969 to 1979. After the death of her husband, Norman, in 1979, she moved from the farm to her house in Stewart where she lived from February 3, 1980 until her move to Buffalo Lake on June 7, 2017. She also worked at Buffalo Lake Health Care for 32 years.
Adline and Norman were members of the Minnesota Flying Farmers and traveled extensively to many states. Many trips were enjoyed by Adline with her retired friends. Some of her favorite places were Alaska, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Holy Land, and several cruises. You could often find Adline working on a quilt as this was her favorite hobby. She made each family member a quilt, which all were made with love. Adline loved playing cards and belonged to several card clubs and was the local Red Cross chairman from 1980 – 2017. She was the church organist for 40+ years.
Adline is now reunited with her husband, Norman. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Harry & Emma; brother, Wayne; granddaughter, Lisa; daughter-in-law and two sons-in-law, Norman Rest and Roger Henschke.
Adline is survived by Adrianne, Burt, Marlowe, Clifton (Mary), Cindy, Dwight (Nancy), Debra, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and two step grandchildren.
It’s time to rest, Mom. We love you and will miss you.
Per Adline’s wishes, any memorials may be made in her name to either the Ronald McDonald House at 818 Fulton St. SE, Minneapolis, MN 55414 or to the St. Cloud VA Medical Center at 4801 Veterans Dr., St. Cloud, MN 56303.
